Meets at 10:30am on the first Saturday of every Month (except January) in the Brown Hill Uniting Church Hall.
The Ballarat Society of Artists was Incorporated in 1982 to support and encourage art and artists in the Ballarat region by way of meetings, workshops and exhibitions. It has a current membership of around 90 artists at all levels of achievement.
The Ballarat Society Artists is a vibrant not for profit group that as an incorporated body, operates in accordance with its rules, approved by the Department of Justice Victoria. Management of the Society is by a committee of members elected annually. It is a vibrant group of artists that meet monthly to discuss Society business and organise a range of events and workshops throughout the year. It participates in the Begonia Festival and the Heritage Weekend, both City of Ballarat events as well as its own exhibitions and workshops including a biannual exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. It also supports the VCE Next Gen. Exhibition in Ballarat by way of a Peoples Choice Award to the winning Artist.
At each monthly meeting, a painting competition is held, entered into and judged by those attending. There is a different theme for each month. A speaker or demonstration may also be organised. A BYO shared lunch ends the day.
