Boomerang Bags in Brown Hill

The first Ballarat Boomerang Bags Sewing Bee will be on Wednesday 23 August from 7.00pm at the Brown Hill Cricket Club, 1 Reid Court. We are asking for donations of materials, clothing, cotton, scissors and spare sewing machines (to loan). Donations can be dropped at the Brown Hill Cricket Club. Please arrange a time with Wendy by calling 0419 898 286.

Volunteers are needed on the night to help with cutting materials, pinning, ironing, stamping and sewing. All ages welcome and no experience required.

See Ballarat Boomerang Bags on Facebook.

The Ballarat Wholefoods Collective is proud to have formed the Ballarat Boomerang Bags community, with Hattie and the Wolf (218a Skipton Street, Ballarat Central, see Facebook) and The Healthy Hub (100 Bridge Mall, Ballarat, see Facebook).

Boomerang Bags started in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, in 2013. On their website, they state that Boomerang Bags communities "work to reduce the use of plastic bags by engaging local communities in the making of Boomerang Bags – community-made, using recycled materials. Boomerang Bags provide a free, fun, sustainable alternative to plastic bags. By getting involved, you are participating in a national movement that celebrates a local grassroots initiative, community building and sustainability."
